TECH TALK - what is an EnviroReadyTM Report?

Technically, it is an Environmental Management System Report on Specified Auditing Procedures (EMS ROSAP).

It marries the ISO standards process and an auditing procedure to help organizations demonstrate stewardship and gain credibility. Stewardship begins with the willingness to be accountable to a larger body - be it other organizations, governments or the public.

Accountability closes the gap between intention and action. It makes organizations respectable; it is the foundation for an ethical business culture. It is the basis for a level of trust that is critical in a growing green global marketplace.

What is an "EMS ROSAP"?

It is a statement of existence of an EMS based on the organization's self-declaration and evidence demonstrating that it has met the requirements in ISO 14001. The Professional Accountant uses commonly accepted auditing standards (based on GAAS) to determine the existence of the EMS.

The wording of the Professional Accountant's report and criteria, and the note attached to a self-declaration statement, were developed taking into consideration the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) Handbook recommendations and guidance to accounting practitioners regarding assurance engagements and related services.

Those Professional Accountants who take the learning process will be provided a copy of ISO 14001, the technical documents required and training materials developed exclusively for this process.

What an EMS ROSAP is not.

The Report does not include a registration audit of the EMS. It does not speak to the quality, effectiveness or efficiency of the EMS. Nor does the Professional Accountant give an opinion on the performance outcomes of the EMS.

EMS ROSAP is the accounting technical term. The market brand for it is EnviroReadyTM Report.

The Report is conducted annually, and can be aligned with other yearly business reporting processes.
